BEGINNING POINTE WORKSHOP

This four-hour workshop is designed for dancers who will be beginning pointe during the summer session. It will cover all foundational aspects of pointe work, including selecting the correct shoe fit, sewing and tying pointe shoes, pointe safety, and proper care of pointe shoes.

The workshop will be taught by Studio Director Amber Michalik and Assistant Director Hannah Carden and will also include a beginning pointe technique class to help prepare dancers for summer training.

This workshop is mandatory for all APSD dancers starting pointe this summer.

Instruction Includes

  • Selecting and fitting pointe shoes

  • Sewing pointe shoes

  • Tying pointe shoes

  • Pointe shoe care and maintenance

  • Pointe safety and injury prevention

  • Beginning pointe technique class

Requirements

Dancers must receive permission from the Studio Director or Assistant Studio Director prior to beginning pointe and before registering for this workshop.

Important:

  • Do not sew pointe shoes prior to the workshop.

  • Shoes must be approved by a director before the start of the workshop.

What to Bring

  • Pointe shoes

  • Elastic and Freed brand ribbon (available at the studio)

  • Stitch kit for sewing

Policies

  • Tuition is non-refundable and due in full upon registration.

  • Dancers may not enroll without prior approval from the Studio Director or Assistant Director.

  • If the workshop becomes full, dancers will be placed on a waiting list and contacted if space becomes available.

  • No refunds or partial reimbursements will be issued unless the workshop is canceled due to low enrollment.
